IT Systems Analyst

Behavioral Health Resources supports and strengthens individuals, families and the community by promoting mental health and chemical dependency recovering throughout Grays Harbor, Mason and Thurston counties. This position is located within the MIS Department and is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of information contained in and delivered from BHR's electronic health record system. Additionally, this position provides analysis of contractual deliverables and works as part of a team in maintaining, modifying and testing information systems.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Quality Director


  • Associate's degree in computer science or closely related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Two (2) years' experience with demonstrated responsibility in database management and computer technology.

  • Knowledge of SQL, R, STATA, SPSS, or other relatable coding language

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Must be detail oriented and able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well with non-technical managers and end-users

  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines, with minimal supervision, in a team environment and share tasks

  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. 

  • Pass and maintain a clear background record as required for healthcare organizations under state and federal contracts.


  • Understanding of ICD10-CM, CPT, HCPCs or equivalency

  • Experience working with Crystal Reports

  • Experience working with Netsmart Avatar or equivalent behavioral healthcare system

  • Knowledge of Behavioral Health Organizations (BHO) and State (DBHR/DOH) data requirements


  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of information contained in and delivered from BHR's electronic health record to meet contractual deliverables

  • Provides analysis for implementation of clinical system solutions and enhancements

  • Provides decision support to management for decisions and program development through the interpretation of data from a variety of internal and external sources

  • Develops programs, methodologies and files for analyzing and presenting data

  • Measures key metrics and trends of mental health and substance use data over time

  • Performs necessary investigation and analysis to resolve data inconsistencies

  • Prepares reports supporting management and clinical users

  • Analyzes relevant data for significant trends, and stays current on best practices for behavioral health services and related health and social services as they affect the agency and its operations

  • Researches new data sources and analytical tools for possible future use

  • Works as part of a team to maintain, modify, and test information systems

  • Works cross functionally across multiple departments to identify, document, implement and relay process improvements and data requirements

  • Provides support in EHR software system and service as a point of contact to users for technical support and assistance

  • Defines business rules for systematic data quality improvements

  • Represents BHR in a wide variety of local/regional meetings, work groups, task forces and other venues as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned



  • Ability to travel to other sites is required 25% of the time.

  • Ability to lift and carry 5 to 25 pounds 25% of the time.

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds 5% of the time.

  • Ability to look at and use a computer for extended periods of time 90% of the time.

  • Work is generally performed in an office, but sufficient mobility to meet with other employees and attend meetings at various locations is required.

  • Requires periods of intense concentration over extended period of time, and is subject to frequent interruption.
