Ian has over 25 years of experience in the behavioral health field. He has been in leadership roles at BHR for more than 14 years and has devoted his entire career to working in community behavioral health organizations. He started at BHR as the Manager of Emergency Services, transitioned to Director of Acute and Recovery Services, and then to Chief Operating Officer. He began his post master's degree experience as a child and family therapist in eastern Washington. He worked providing clinical and crisis services for several years in several counties across the state before transitioning into leadership roles. Ian received his undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Montana and his master's degree in social work from Walla Walla College. He is a licensed independent clinical social worker and a child mental health specialist. As Chief Operating Officer, Ian is responsible for the full continuum of clinical and operational services BHR provides. Ian and his wife have lived in the Olympia, Washington area for over 20 years.
Dr. Young, a board certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, came to Behavioral Health Resources from Arkansas in November of 2015. She taught high school science for two years before going to medical school in Arkansas and then worked for both community mental health and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years in Northwest Arkansas. Having grown up in rural Arkansas and worked in underserved areas, Dr. Young has a compassion for community health care. She has a strong background in working with pre-school children with developmental and behavioral disorders, as well as working with children and adolescents with mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and psychotic disorders.
Larry joined BHR's management team in 2016. Beginning in Spokane with Lutheran Community Services as a clinician and then director of child welfare services, Larry Larry has spent his entire professional career in the arena of quality management and improvement. Larry next worked for the State of Nevada where he wrote the state’s first quality management plan for child welfare. There he also spent time working with Federal reviewers on Child and Family Services Review and then joined the Clark County Department of Family Services as its manager of foster care and adoption placement. In 2007 Larry assumed responsibilities as the Quality Director for the Washington State Department of Early Learning. In 2010 Larry became the Quality Manager for what is now the Thurston Mason Behavioral Health Organization (TMBHO).
Eric Jensen joined BHR in 2017. He received his Master's degree in accounting from the University of Utah. Eric got his CPA license in 2010 and is licensed in Utah and Washington. He has spent ten years in public accounting doing taxes, audits and helping clients with their financial and accounting needs.
Tiffany Buchanan joined the BHR team in 2011. She began working in Community Mental Health in 2003 and graduated with her Master’s in Counseling degree in 2008 from Saint Martin’s University. Tiffany has experience working in and managing diverse programs such as Outpatient Services, Crisis Services, and in Inpatient settings. She has served on multiple state workgroups, committees, and is president emeritus of the Washington Designated Crisis Responder’s Association where she had the opportunity to provide state wide trainings, conferences, and meet with State Legislators to advocate for mental health services. Tiffany is dedicated and passionate about providing the community with the services needed to promote mental health and chemical dependency recovery.
Lauren Farmer joined the BHR team in 2016. She first earned her BA in Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2006, and obtained her MA in Psychology with an emphasis in Child, Couple, and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle in 2009. Lauren gained experience providing evidence-based services in New York and Minnesota, and then spent time as the Children’s Longterm Inpatient Program (CLIP) Liaison for Kitsap County in Washington. She has experience managing outpatient departments serving youth and adult clients from diverse backgrounds, and is actively involved in a number of workgroups supporting improved access to services throughout the Puget Sound region. Lauren believes that early intervention is necessary for successful outcomes, and is passionate about preparing the next generation of mental health professionals for work in the field.
Angela has worked in community behavioral health in Grays Harbor county since 1998. She has been with BHR since 2007 and in her current position as Director of Grays Harbor Outpatient Services since 2016. Angela has had the opportunity to provide a wide range of services to individuals in her community including individual therapy for veterans, hospital liaison services, crisis response, outpatient case management and therapy. She is committed to providing quality services to the people BHR serves. Angela completed her Master's in Counseling Psychology at Central Washington University. She was born and raised in Grays Harbor and continues to live in the community with her husband.
