Provide chemical dependency treatment, care coordination, and support services to clients in designated program. A significant number of clients have co-occurring disorders (chemical dependency and mental illness). Residential programs may require evening and weekend hours. Positions may require employees to be on-call.
Compensation: $22.00 - $30.36 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Clinical Manager and/or Supervisor
Graduate degree in psychology or similar counseling (specialization in addiction preferred).
Licensure as Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) with the State of Washington Department of Health preferred.
Licensure as a Chemical Dependency Professional Trainee with the State of Washington Department of Health required.
Licensure as a Mental Health Counselor with the State of Washington Department of Health. Failure to maintain licensure will result in reassignment to position commensurate to the license currently held.
A minimum of two years' experience providing chemical dependency services with co-occurring disorders which included working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing both chemical dependency and mental health treatment.
Must be able to pass a criminal background and Inspector General check.
It is required that employees declare understanding of and willingness to comply with the requirement that there be no misuse of alcohol or drugs while employed.
Cannot have abused any chemical substances within one year that would in any way impair or limit ability to perform this job.
Knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health diagnosis and treatment, including DSM-V diagnostic criteria.
Possess clear understanding of alcoholism and drug addiction, withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery, including 12-step programs.
Competent skill in treating persons with common co-occurring disorders, including the role of psychotropic medications.
Ability to integrate mental health therapy and primary chemical dependency treatment into an integrated service plan with measurable milestones and goals.
Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment and initiative in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain current, accurate, complete, and well-written assessments, patient treatment plans, progress notes articulating movement and adjustments
Ability to conduct individualized patient-centered treatment that incorporates into all stages of treatment the patient's own assessment of their strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
Maintain professional boundaries and set a positive example of behaviors for patients.
Work cooperatively with patients, coworkers, and external agencies.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with appropriate State and Federal laws and in accordance with organization's policies and procedures.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete chemical dependency assessments for clinical and legal purposes, with an awareness of the mental health needs for persons with co-occurring disorders
Provide individual counseling and case management for a caseload of individuals with co-occurring addiction and mental disorders.
Conduct educational classes and treatment groups as assigned.
As a primary counselor, develop, review, and amend an individualized service plan that addresses treatment of substance use disorder as well as co-occurring mental health disorders.
Provide appropriate counseling as outlined in individual service plan.
Record patient notes on the day of contact and ensure files are maintained in accordance organization's policies and procedures and specific contract requirements.
Ensure timely, complete communication and treatment progress reports to courts, referents and resource agencies, as appropriate.
During a patient's course of care, maintain ongoing collaboration with state agencies, courts and other agencies as well as conduct ongoing discharge planning.
Complete patient progress notes and treatment plan revisions in a timely fashion and in a manner that another counselor could pick up the file and know how to work with the patient.
Provide accounting department with records of time engaged in counseling activities, case management, drug court staff meetings, and other activities billable under appropriate contracts.
Follow patient confidentiality as outlined in organizational policy, 42 CFR. 45 CFR and relevant State laws.
Identify psychiatric, medical, or other services and facilitate patient referral as appropriate.
Work effectively with all applicable treatment team members in planning and developing instructional strategies and programs appropriate to the total needs of the patients.
Take on a share of additional groups for fellow counselors during absences.
Attend staff meetings and provide clinical input, attend in-house trainings by consulting psychiatrist, and complete all mandatory staff trainings as scheduled.
Participate in research and organizational activities as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Duties are performed primarily in an office setting or in the community requiring walking, typing, use of fingers, and carry of client files (up to 10 pounds).
Computer use is daily but intermittent and generally less than 25% of the time.
